Give this visual a specific job

A flat lay looks straight down at a product arranged on a surface. Start with a top-down source photo when possible, then direct the surface, spacing and props in AI Studio. The key decision is the arrangement: a single hero item, a routine laid out in order, or an editorial composition with empty space.

Three directions to explore

Single-product overhead

Center one item with a soft contact shadow. This gives a simple composition you can reuse across several crops.

Use an overhead photo with the product lying naturally. Photograph the whole item, avoid a wide-angle lens close to the subject, and keep important packaging text in focus.

Routine arrangement

Lay out the products in the order they are used. Separate styling props from items included in the purchase.

Editorial negative space

Place the product off-center and leave a quiet surface beside it for text added in your campaign layout.

Make the brief your own

Start from this composition, add your product, and revise the direction to fit your campaign.

Personalize this starting brief, then copy it into AI Studio or Poster Master with your actual product photo.

A workflow for this visual

  1. 1.Prepare the reference

Use an overhead photo with the product lying naturally. Photograph the whole item, avoid a wide-angle lens close to the subject, and keep important packaging text in focus.

  2. 2.Direct the composition

Open AI Studio, attach your product photo and use your brief to direct the surface, lighting and composition.

  3. 3.Review and prepare

Compare the result with the actual product. Check details at full size, then crop or resize for the intended placement.

Check before you publish

  • The view reads as overhead rather than an angled tabletop shot.
  • Contact shadows sit beneath the item and agree with the light.
  • Props do not hide the product or imply additional included items.
  • Label, seams and proportions match your original.

Match the asset to the destination's requirements. Read the marketplace image guide. For crop preparation, use the browser image resizer.

A few things to know

Can an upright bottle become a flat lay?

It can be a creative experiment, but a front photo does not document the bottle's top or hidden sides. A real overhead reference reduces that ambiguity.

Should I generate the campaign headline in the photo?

For a reusable photo, leave empty space and add typography in your layout. Use Poster Master when the headline is part of the creative brief.
