JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, GIF, BMP, AVIF · any number of files · processed on your device, never uploaded
Platforms state limits in file size, not quality: Etsy warns above 1 MB, TikTok Shop stops at 5 MB, many email tools choke over 200 KB per image. Generic compressors give you a quality slider and leave the arithmetic to you. This one takes the target size and searches for the highest quality that fits, dropping dimensions only if quality alone cannot get there.
It works on JPEG, PNG and WebP (PNG is converted to JPEG or WebP for real savings unless you keep it) and processes batches in a background thread. Files stay on your device.

How the size fitting works
The tool encodes at your maximum quality first. If the file is over the limit, it binary-searches the quality between 40 and your maximum, testing seven encodes to land within a few percent of the target. If quality 40 is still too large — common with 6000 px files and a 100 KB target — it scales the image down proportionally and repeats. The result panel shows the final quality and dimensions so nothing is hidden.
Targets that make sense
Marketplace masters: keep quality high and use the platform limit (1 MB Etsy, 5 MB TikTok Shop, 10 MB Amazon). Product pages: 150–300 KB per image at 1200–1600 px keeps Core Web Vitals healthy. Email: 100 KB or less. Social: the network recompresses anyway, so 500 KB–1 MB is plenty.
Questions
- Will the image be resized?
- Only if the target is impossible at quality 40 or above. The result panel flags files that had to be scaled down.
- PNG barely shrinks — why?
- PNG is lossless; there is no quality dial. Convert to JPEG (photos) or WebP (graphics with transparency) for real savings, which is the default here.
- What is the lowest quality it will use?
- 40 on the JPEG/WebP scale, which is already visibly compressed. Below that the tool prefers to reduce dimensions, which looks better at the same file size.
- Is anything uploaded?
- No. Compression runs in your browser.
