JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, GIF, BMP, AVIF · any number of files · processed on your device, never uploaded

iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. Etsy and eBay accept it; Amazon and TikTok Shop do not, and Windows, older Android devices, most print services and many listing-management tools cannot open the files at all. AirDropping to a Mac keeps them HEIC; emailing them converts but downsizes.

This converter decodes HEIC with a WebAssembly build of libheif inside your browser and writes a full-resolution JPEG, honouring the orientation stored in the file. Nothing is uploaded, which also means there is no file-size cap beyond your device's memory.

How it works

  1. 01

    Drop HEIC files

Straight from AirDrop, iCloud or a USB import. Batches are fine.

  2. 02

Set quality and optional max size

Quality 92 keeps the full detail; add a size cap if a platform needs one.

  3. 03

    Download JPEGs

Original filenames with a .jpg extension, individually or zipped.

HEIC, HEIF and what changes on conversion

HEIC is Apple's container for HEIF images encoded with HEVC. It stores roughly twice the detail of JPEG per megabyte, plus depth data and Live Photo frames. Converting keeps the picture and orientation; it drops the depth map and the Live Photo motion, which no marketplace uses.

Colour: iPhones shoot in Display P3. The converted JPEG carries the same pixels; on a marketplace page, browsers display it in sRGB, which is what buyers see anyway.

Turn off HEIC on the phone if you shoot listings often

Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible switches the iPhone to JPEG. You lose some storage efficiency and gain files that everything opens. Photos already taken stay HEIC — convert those here.

Questions

Why is the first file slow?
The HEIC decoder (about 1.5 MB) loads on first use and is cached afterwards. Subsequent files convert immediately.
Does it keep the photo's orientation?
Yes. The orientation flag in the HEIC file is applied so portraits stay portrait.
Is EXIF data kept?
No — the re-encoded JPEG carries no EXIF, which removes location data as a side effect. Use the EXIF tool if you want to check what a JPEG contains.
Does it work on Windows and Android?
Yes. The decoder runs in the browser, so it does not depend on the operating system's HEIC support.
